La base de todo proceso educativo, la finalidad común a toda enseñanza, es el desarrollo de la capacidad de pensar y reflexionar. En esta cátedra no se trata de “llenar” la memoria con muchos datos o informaciones, sino en la formación práctica de hábitos que permitan lograr individuos que sean capaces de elaborar juicios de valor y ejercer adecuadamente sus derechos y deberes de ciudadanos responsables como buenos comunicadores sociales.

Las capacidades necesitan mayor tiempo de aprendizaje y requieren cierto grado de práctica, pero una vez adquiridas, cuando con el tiempo todo se olvida, lo que permanece en el

pensamiento son los hábitos mentales y no los conocimientos.

El objetivo primero y fundamental es el enseñarlos a pensar y reflexionar.Enseñar a pensar y reflexionar significa que no debo simplemente dar información, sino que debo tratar de desarrollarles la capacidad para usar esa información.Los rasgos más generales del método de aprender pensando son los rasgos de la situación reflexiva: el problema, la recolección y análisis de datos, la proyección y la elaboración de sugerencias o ideas, la aplicación y comprobación experimental, y la conclusión resultante o juicio de valor.
